Tim Murphy, PhD, Chief Operations Officer

Tim Murphy, PhD

I recently accepted this position after having worked for Cattle Empire as a nutritionist/management consultant since 2002.  I grew up in the northwestern part of North Dakota on a commercial cow/calf and farming operation where I worked closely with my parents and brothers on the operation.  I graduated from North Dakota State University with my BS Degree in Animal and Range Science as well as my Masters of Science in Ruminant Nutrition.  I earned by Doctoral degree in Ruminant Nutrition from The Ohio State University.

Immediately following graduation from The Ohio State University I went to work for Purina Mills in St. Louis, MO in their Beef Cattle Technical Services and Research Group.  I was later transferred to Dodge City, KS to work as a feedyard nutritionist for Purina Mills.  I then worked in the Technical Service group for Vetlife prior to initiating an independent Nutritional/Management Consulting Services company, High Plains Consulting, Inc.  Cattle Empire was one of the first clients secured in this new venture.  While operating High Plains Consulting, Inc. I was fortunate to have developed a broad client base of feedyards in KS, TX and OK exposing me to a broad scope of the cattle feeding industry.

I look forward to the new challenges of the position as COO for Cattle Empire.  The 13-year history of working with the team at Cattle Empire allows me a good deal of background about the operation and people which will be beneficial in my current role.

At this time I plan to maintain my role as nutritionist for the Cattle Empire operations to work towards continued enhancement in our production levels and operational efficiencies.

My wife, Rhonda, and I have been married 28 years and have two sons, Logan and Taylor.  Logan received his BS from Kansas University and his Turfgrass Management Degree from Penn State University.  Logan is currently assistant superintendent at Pinehurst No. 2 of Pinehurst Resorts, in Pinehurst, North Carolina.  Taylor is currently attending Kansas State University where he is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
